Travels - Malaysia 2006

Back Back to Travels main

124h stopover in Kuala Lumpur (KL): While leaving Philippines on my way back to Maldives, I had a 24h stopover in Malaysia , Kuala Lumpur. The package was offered by Malaysian Airlines: they provided me a 4 star Hotel plus 2 free meals at the restaurant. I had a chance to visit a museum where I saw some of the ancient Malay porcelains , armors and instruments (you can see me attempting to play one of those in the pictures below). I saw the KL twin towers , the second tallest tower in the world , the KL Chinatown and riding the KL special monorail metro train. The weather is very comfortable , I love it , very very humid and hot, the city is clean , ordinate and the people well mannered and modern. I had a very good impression. Hopefully next year I will be traveling through the Malaysian jungle an some of its nice temples. One of the good part of this trip was that I had an encounter with the couchsurfer Erina who kindly accompanied me for hours around the computer-city shopping mall in the desperate attempt to find a Sony T10 camera for less than 300$. We asked every single shop (there were hundreds) but at last we succeed!

86<< That's the monorail train, a sort of metro which runs outdoor through all the city and you can enjoy a really wonderful view while riding it.

>> Me and Erina

75<< The cool thing about KL is that the city and it's parks are fully "decorated" with rich jungle-style vegetation!
Plus the high humidity climate will really make you think
if you came across a futuristic city in the middle of the
jungle...The sensation amazed me. I like it !!

>>On the right , me and the KL twin towers considered the 2nd tallest in the world.

49<< Like every city in the world , guess what , the
Chinatown district. Boring uh? I already lost the
count on how many chinatowns i've seen so far...

>> on the right , me and Erina , a Couchsurfer who helped me out on my mission to
explore the city in less than 24h , finding the best deal for my 7th digital camera , taking me to the best club (Luna?) . She made my day really interminable , 24h seemed like 84h by the many things we did.

32Me at the museum, attracted by some Mali artifacts , old
musical instruments and tea pots.
