.: The Deserted Island Project :.

dipatoll...I don't have a job...I don't have a house...but I have a dream...
I want to live and survive on an uninhabited island for a year or so.
The whitest sand you've ever walked on, surrounded by the most pure and crystal water you've ever swam in.
The clearest blue sky over your head eveyday, the most romantic sunset every evening and thousands of spectacular shining stars every night.
Wear nothing on you.
A full immersion in a warm, relaxing and colorful nature, living in a complete peace of senses.
I am looking for a partner to share this adventure with, will you join me?

Last news:

dipflyerday108 October 2008 - D.I.P. Flyer first test in HK - Today I finally printed out a flyer for the deserted island project, and guess what, i've tested its impact on the masses, by distributing it in the streets of Hong Kong for 1 hour time. People thought I wanted to sell them something, but at last few of them stopped and curiously asked me lot of questions about my dream. Some were not directly interested but they said they will be spreading the news among their friends. The only problem is that this way of promoting my project it's way too expensive and out of budget, supposing that I pay around 0.25 HK$ per flyer and willing to give away 1 million copies, that would cost me over 50.000 US dollars! So if someone is willing to sponsor this initiative by flying with a helicopter over the main streets of Hong kong (but after all any other big metropolis will do) and throwing a million copies of my flyer on people, please do let me know. Actually, if you are willing to volunteer in my project, you could contribute by just posting a copy of my flyer onto any board at your university or workplace or library, anything, or eventually by just passing the voice to your contacts...well thank you very much in advance if you can help me out of this hard mission...Ok I have made 2 different designs, you can download it here: flyer1 ; flyer2 (all are in .doc format).

voglioviverecosi06 August 2008 - D.I.P.. news - The deserted island project has today appeared on one of the largest italian portal about moving abroad. www.voglioviverecosi.com is a website entirely dedicated to Italians who are tired of living in their country and are looking for alternative life styles. It has well populated forum with users who can give some awesome tips and hints. There are numerous and well explanatory sections on how to invest and live oversea. Thanks to Alessandro who has kindly promoted my project!

The history:

When did it all started? Was it after falling in love with the atmosphere of the tropical nature or after idealizing my concept of extreme love in two people?
Since I was a child I loved the water, I was spending several hours at the swimming pool or in the sea, playing with inflatable toys, experimenting new styles of swimming underwater and dive with other kids from the jetty. Then growing up and being able to appreciate my time on the beach, swimming in the colorful sea, snorkeling and observing unusual living forms, watching sunsets, playing with the sand, feeling the warmth of the sun rays on my skin. Falling asleep on the soft sand while listening to the sound of the waves, feeling so relaxed and comfortable in that spectacular surrounding... I've always loved the time spent by the sea with my family, even if it was for a short period of time during the summer holidays. I was always looking forward to it, until it became a needing, almost an obsession, as I couldn't stand the cold weather of my region, the pollution of the city, the stress, its unnatural way of living.

Psychological self analysis:

Certainly it has to be excluded the hypothesis of unconscious self-implantation of positive attitudes towards paradisiacal and surrealistic scenarios, perhaps in order to color my black and white and "in early stage development" "portrait", as the love for the nature, the tropical environment, sand, trees and water, which contributed mostly in setting my mind up to this plan. In fact the love for those kind of surroundings is founded on consolidated basis: the episode at my earliest age, probably 3 or 4 years old when my parents threw me in my aunt's swimming pool, and since then, the love for the water. Other correlated episodes still in the very young age, which built my strong desire for "tropical". Difficulty I could be accused to suffer of the general illness present in the human being of this last century: to always look for the opposite of what we have, but rather I would say, the central and actual role is driven by my non-satisfaction towards the daily life in the common social schemes, the unhealthy living in the metropolis, which I am constantly trying to avoid without any concrete results.

With whom:

If not with someone I love, the other option although less romantic, would be doing it with few friends, males and females, to give balance to the group. Not more than 5 or 6 persons in total, to avoid damage to the peaceful environment and also according to the type and size of the island. It must be a very strict selection of people as we couldn't afford to screw the trip once we get off. This task seems to be even more difficult than the one of finding the proper island where to settle...continue to dedicated area

Where:

Another important and hard research is to figure out which island is most suitable to set up this project. It's an enormous obstacle to find a country with uninhabited islands, unspoiled, far from dangers, wars, and with possible living condition. Of course, as you would say, if it's so easy to be found, some other people would have already been living there. In fact, if such paradise exists, why aren't there already people living? Good question, but...continue to the dedicated area

Inspirations:

Movies like Blue Lagoon, The Beach, Castaway, also inspired me giving a more vivid tone to my dream. It also wouldn't hurt if you take a look at my short film: "I still believe in paradise".
